The most famous sweet cherry is the Bing cherry (shown in photo), which is larger and much darker than sour cherries, which often produce two fruits on the same stem.
Cherries were brought to the Western world for the first time in the seventeenth century. Modern cherry production began in 1852 when the cherry trees were planted in Michigan where Lake Michigan provided a moderating effect, making the right climate paw growing cherries and other fruit trees.
The cherries are grown commercially cultured a clamp mounted on a tractor to the tree trunk. The tree is shaken carefully to pluck the fruit without damaging the tree. The berries fall into a special section on removable platforms where the cherries come together.
